Seattle, WA – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Washington Cascades, where up to 14 inches of snow is expected beginning late Saturday night through Sunday evening.

According to the NWS, the advisory covers the Cascades of Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, King, Pierce, and Lewis Counties, including popular mountain areas such as Mount Rainier, Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, and Crystal Mountain.

Snow is forecast to develop around 11 p.m. Saturday, continuing through 11 p.m. Sunday, with 6–10 inches expected above 3,500 feet, and 10–14 inches possible on Mount Rainier. The heaviest accumulations are expected overnight and into Sunday morning.

Forecasters warn that travel could be very difficult, particularly over mountain passes, and gusty winds may bring down tree branches, increasing the risk of isolated power outages. Motorists are urged to slow down, use caution, and check road conditions before traveling.

This early-season snowfall marks one of the first major winter weather events for the Cascades this fall.
