Hanford, CA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for several Southern California mountain regions, with snow and strong winds expected to create hazardous travel conditions through Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will begin Wednesday morning and persist through early Friday across the Kern River Valley, Grapevine, Tehachapi, and Frazier Mountain communities. Accumulations of up to 5 inches are forecast at higher elevations, with lower elevations expected to receive up to 1 inch. Winds could gust as high as 70 mph in the San Diego County Mountains on Thursday.

The advisory is in place from 10 a.m. Wednesday to 1 p.m. Thursday for Kern and Tehachapi areas and from 4 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday for the San Diego County Mountains. Commuters should prepare for slippery roads, reduced visibility, and possible downed tree branches due to gusty winds.

Travelers should exercise caution, reduce speeds, and stay updated on road conditions by dialing 511. Officials urge residents in affected areas to secure outdoor objects and avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm conditions.

The hazardous conditions could impact morning and evening commutes through the end of the advisory period, making preparedness essential for those in mountain regions.
