Reno, NV – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Northeast California, the Greater Lake Tahoe area, and Mono County. The advisory begins at 10 p.m. Wednesday and lasts until 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect snowfall between 1-4 inches near lake level and up to 8 inches above 7,000 feet. Gusty winds, reaching 90 mph along ridges, are likely to reduce visibility. In Lassen, Plumas, and Sierra counties, snow totals may reach 6 inches west of U.S. 395, with winds up to 45 mph.

Travel conditions in the Sierra will be hazardous due to icy roads and low visibility. Drivers are advised to carry chains and emergency supplies. Residents in affected areas should prepare for possible power outages.

Plan ahead if traveling along U.S. 395 or I-80, as delays are expected.
