Albany, NY – A winter weather advisory has been issued for Northern Herkimer and Hamilton counties, with snow expected to impact the region from Friday afternoon through Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, snowfall will begin around 1 p.m. Friday and continue until 4 p.m. Saturday, with accumulations ranging from 3 to 6 inches. Road conditions are expected to become hazardous due to snow-covered roads and reduced visibility.

Residents are advised to drive cautiously and allow extra time for travel. Snowfall could make roads slippery, especially in higher elevations such as Old Forge, Long Lake, and Eagle Bay.

The advisory comes as temperatures remain below freezing, increasing the likelihood of persistent snow accumulation. Officials recommend keeping emergency supplies in vehicles and staying updated on weather conditions.

For real-time updates and road conditions, travelers should check with the New York State Department of Transportation and local authorities.
