Duluth, MN – A clipper system is bringing snowfall to far northern Minnesota, affecting travel and visibility through Monday afternoon. The heaviest snow is expected during the morning hours, with some areas seeing up to 5 inches.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Duluth, snowfall amounts will vary across the region. Areas along the Canadian border, including International Falls, could see 2 to 5 inches, while other locations in northern Minnesota will receive less than an inch. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Koochiching and northern St. Louis counties until midday.

Snowfall is expected to continue until the late afternoon, with the most significant accumulation occurring before noon. International Falls could see localized snowfall totals of 4 to 5 inches, while areas north of the Iron Range may receive 1 to 3 inches.

Drivers are advised to use caution as road conditions may become slippery, especially in areas experiencing heavier snowfall. Reduced visibility is possible during peak snowfall hours. The NWS recommends allowing extra travel time and checking road conditions before heading out.

For updated forecasts and road conditions, residents are encouraged to monitor the National Weather Service and Minnesota Department of Transportation websites.
