Baltimore, MD – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 3 p.m. Thursday, as snow and high winds create hazardous travel conditions across parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The advisory affects Extreme Western Allegany County in Maryland, Western Highland County in Virginia, and Western Mineral County in West Virginia. Forecasts predict snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches, with snowfall rates reaching up to 1 inch per hour early Thursday morning. Gusty winds, peaking at 55 mph, are expected to reduce visibility to less than half a mile at times.

According to the National Weather Service, the adverse weather could make roads slippery, complicating the morning commute. The high winds may also damage trees and power lines, potentially causing power outages.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to slow down and exercise caution while driving. For updated road conditions, drivers are advised to dial 511 for their respective states.

This advisory remains in effect until Thursday afternoon.
