Cass County, MI – Lake effect snow is creating hazardous travel conditions across parts of southwest Michigan this morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Cass, St. Joseph, and Berrien counties until 1 p.m. Thursday. According to the advisory, an additional inch of snow is possible, with winds gusting up to 30 mph. These conditions are causing blowing and drifting snow, leading to slick roads and reduced visibility.
The combination of snow showers and sharply colder temperatures is making bridges and overpasses especially hazardous. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution during the morning commute.
Officials warn that road conditions will likely remain challenging until the snow tapers off this afternoon. Residents can check real-time road conditions by calling 511.
Motorists should allow extra time for travel and prepare for possible delays. This advisory serves as a reminder to stay alert and drive safely in winter conditions.
Stay tuned for updates as conditions evolve.
