Albany, NY – Snowy conditions and high winds are creating hazardous travel across eastern New York and neighboring regions as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until early Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, areas within the Lake George-Saratoga region, Mohawk Valley, and eastern Catskills can expect an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow by 1 a.m. Friday. Strong winds gusting up to 45 mph are likely to cause blowing and drifting snow, significantly reducing visibility during snow squalls.
Morning and evening commuters should prepare for slippery roadways and limited visibility. The advisory also warns of the potential for fallen tree branches due to gusty winds.
Western Schenectady, Albany, and Eastern Columbia Counties may see snow totals reaching 5 inches, while regions in Northern Litchfield and Southern Berkshire Counties in Connecticut and Massachusetts are forecasted to receive between 1 and 3 inches of snow, with the advisory expiring for these areas at 1 p.m.
Motorists are urged to reduce speeds and exercise caution. Current road conditions can be accessed by dialing 511.
