GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has extended a Winter Weather Advisory through 4 p.m. Wednesday, as snow continues to impact much of western and central Michigan.
Snowfall totals are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches along the I-96 corridor, with 2 to 4 inches possible north of M-46 in areas like Big Rapids, Ludington, Clare, and Baldwin.
Forecasters say slick and snow-covered roads are likely throughout the morning, especially on bridges and overpasses, where early commuters should allow extra travel time.
The snow will gradually taper off this afternoon as northwest winds bring colder, drier air into the region.
Counties under the advisory include: Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ottawa, Kent, Ionia, and Clinton.
Drivers are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and use caution on snow-covered roads.
