Albany, NY – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of New York and Massachusetts as a wet snowstorm is expected to bring significant accumulations to the region.
The National Weather Service has warned of 2 to 4 inches of snow, with higher amounts of 3 to 6 inches possible for elevations above 2,000 feet in the eastern Catskills. Some sleet may mix in over the Berkshires, intensifying hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory is set to last from midnight tonight until 2 p.m. Saturday, affecting Northern Berkshire and Southern Berkshire counties in Massachusetts, and Western Greene and Western Ulster counties in New York.
Snowfall rates could reach up to an inch per hour on Saturday morning, creating slippery road conditions, particularly on untreated or colder surfaces.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution and reduce speed when traveling, as the weather will likely make roads slick throughout the weekend.
