Morristown, TN – A winter weather advisory is in effect from 5 p.m. Monday through 7 a.m. Tuesday across East Tennessee’s higher elevations, with up to 4 inches of snow predicted. Drivers are urged to prepare for slippery roads and hazardous conditions starting tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, the snow will primarily affect areas above 2,500 feet, including Gatlinburg, Mountain City, and Erwin. The advisory warns that Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes could be dangerous, particularly along mountain passes and rural roadways.

The snow is expected to begin late Monday evening, intensifying overnight. By Tuesday morning, road conditions could worsen due to freezing temperatures, especially in shaded or elevated areas. Residents should reduce speed, increase following distance, and have emergency supplies ready.
