Buffalo, NY – A Winter Weather Advisory now covers all of western New York, including Buffalo and Rochester. Freezing drizzle began moving through the region Sunday evening and will expand eastward behind earlier snowfall.
According to the National Weather Service Buffalo, snowfall will taper off, but 1 to 3 inches of additional snow is expected southeast of Lake Ontario. As temperatures drop, freezing drizzle will create slick conditions, reducing visibility and making roads icy.
Drivers should use caution, as untreated surfaces may become hazardous overnight. Travel impacts include snow-covered roads and reduced traction. A light glaze of ice accumulation is also expected.
The advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Monday. Rain showers will move into the area later Monday, transitioning back to snow in higher elevations.
Officials urge residents to plan for slower travel times and drive carefully. This will be the final update for this weather event.
