Cookeville, TN – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Middle Tennessee as snow continues to accumulate overnight. The National Weather Service in Nashville has warned of slippery road conditions across the region, particularly in higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall is expected to total around 1 inch in most areas, with up to 2 inches possible in elevated locations such as Crossville and Jamestown. The advisory, which includes Putnam, Overton, White, Cumberland, and surrounding counties, is set to remain in place until 6 a.m. CST Thursday.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution while traveling, as road conditions may become hazardous due to accumulating snow and freezing temperatures. Officials recommend reducing speed and allowing extra time for commutes.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has been monitoring road conditions and deploying salt trucks to mitigate ice buildup. Drivers can check the latest road updates by calling 511 or visiting TDOT’s website.

Residents should also prepare for lingering cold temperatures following the snowfall. While significant accumulations are not expected, untreated roads and bridges may remain slick into the morning hours.
