Duluth, MN – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, effective late Wednesday night through Thursday evening, as a strong winter system approaches the region.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow is likely, with accumulations of 4 to 6 inches in most areas and up to 8 inches in higher elevations along Minnesota’s North Shore. Affected areas include Duluth, Superior, Bayfield, and Grand Marais, as well as tribal lands and popular recreation spots such as the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.
Road conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly, particularly on bridges and overpasses, creating hazardous travel during Thursday’s commutes. Officials are urging residents to delay unnecessary travel or prepare with winter survival kits, including blankets, water, and tire chains, in case of emergencies.
Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and heed any travel warnings. Prepare now to stay safe as the storm unfolds.
