Atlanta, GA – A winter storm watch has been issued for much of Georgia, with snow and freezing rain expected to impact the region starting Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the storm could bring snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with light sleet and freezing rain in parts of east-central Georgia late Tuesday night. Ice accumulations of less than 0.1 inch are also possible.

The affected areas include central, northeast, northwest, southeast, and west-central Georgia, with cities such as Atlanta, Macon, Columbus, and Athens potentially seeing hazardous conditions. Officials warn that roadways may become slippery, impacting travel during Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

Residents are urged to monitor forecasts closely and prepare for disruptions. Precautions such as delaying non-essential travel and keeping emergency supplies ready are advised.

The winter storm watch will remain in effect from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
