Riverton, WY – The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Yellowstone National Park and the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains, warning of heavy snow and strong winds beginning Saturday evening and continuing through Monday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, 8 to 14 inches of snow could accumulate in higher elevations, with gusts up to 40 mph creating blowing snow and hazardous travel conditions. The watch area includes Teton Pass, Togwotee Pass, and key routes through Yellowstone National Park, including Lake, Mammoth, and Old Faithful.
Forecasters say snow may begin late Saturday and intensify overnight, with the heaviest snowfall expected Sunday into early Monday. The storm could significantly impact Monday’s morning and evening commutes, especially in mountain corridors where visibility may drop sharply.
