CINCINNATI (Dec. 11, 2025, 2:21 p.m. EST) — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for much of eastern and southeastern Indiana, southwest and south-central Ohio, and northern Kentucky, as a developing system threatens to bring heavy snow to the region this weekend, the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio said Thursday.
The watch is in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday morning, with snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches possible. The storm could make travel “very difficult,” forecasters said, particularly Saturday night into early Sunday.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, with 1 to 3 inches of snow expected before the main system arrives.
Affected areas include Fayette, Union, Franklin, Ripley, Dearborn, and Ohio counties in Indiana; Butler, Warren, Clinton, Ross, Hamilton, Clermont, Brown, Highland, Adams, Pike, and Scioto counties in Ohio; and Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties in Kentucky. Major cities such as Cincinnati, Hamilton, Middletown, Wilmington, and Portsmouth are within the watch area.
Forecasters said snow will develop Saturday morning, increase in intensity through the afternoon, and taper off by early Sunday. Visibility could be significantly reduced during heavier snowfall, and untreated roads may quickly become slick.
The weather service urged residents to prepare for hazardous travel and to monitor forecast updates, as the watch may be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning.
Motorists are advised to slow down and carry emergency supplies such as blankets, flashlights, and water if travel is necessary.
