Albany, NY – A significant winter storm is set to hit eastern New York, with 7 inches or more of snow possible Saturday night into Sunday.

The Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Saturday evening through Sunday morning. According to the NWS Albany, snowfall will be heavy at times, making travel hazardous. Winds will also be a concern, with gusts up to 55 mph Friday afternoonbefore calming Saturday.

Drivers should prepare for slippery roads and low visibility, especially on major routes like I-87 and I-90. If travel is unavoidable, carry emergency supplies, including blankets and extra food.

Beyond the storm, temperatures will plummet. Sunday night’s low will be just 10°F, with another system potentially bringing snow midweek. Monday will be mostly sunny with a high of 28°F before another cold night.

Residents should monitor forecasts and prepare for possible power outages. Stay indoors if possible during the worst of the storm.
