Richmond, VA – A winter storm is set to bring snow and icy conditions to central and eastern Virginia from Tuesday morning through Wednesday, making travel hazardous across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, snowfall accumulations between 2 and 5 inches are expected across affected areas, with higher amounts likely in central Virginia. Ice accumulations could reach two-tenths of an inch in some locations, especially in the eastern Piedmont.
The storm will impact major cities, including Richmond, Williamsburg, and Fredericksburg, as well as southeastern Maryland, where similar snowfall amounts are forecast. Slippery roads and hazardous driving conditions are expected, particularly on bridges and overpasses. The worst conditions are anticipated during the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.
