Duluth, MN – Snowfall continued across parts of northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin late Sunday, prompting extended winter weather advisories with road conditions expected to remain hazardous into Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, advisories remain active through 7 a.m. Monday for Douglas, Bayfield, Sawyer and Price counties in Wisconsin, including cities such as Superior, Hayward and Phillips. Ashland County faces prolonged impacts, with advisories lasting until 1 p.m. Monday and total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches expected.
In Minnesota, areas including Duluth, Hibbing and Carlton County are under advisories until 1 a.m. Monday, with up to two additional inches of snow anticipated. Lighter totals are forecast for Itasca, Cass and Aitkin counties, where advisories expire by 10 p.m. Sunday.
The snowfall is affecting several tribal lands and natural landmarks, including the Red Cliff Band and Madeline Island, with residents urged to use caution.
Drivers are advised to reduce speed and check updated road conditions via 511 services in both states. Morning commuters should allow extra travel time and prepare for slippery roads, particularly in shaded and untreated areas.
Travel impacts are expected to taper off late Monday as snowfall subsides and road crews clear priority routes.
