Spokane, WA – A winter storm will bring heavy snow to Washington’s Sherman and Washington Passes, starting Tuesday night and lasting until Thursday morning. The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Winter Storm Warning, forecasting between 8 and 14 inches of snow at elevations above 4,000 feet.
Forecasters expect snowfall to begin around 10 p.m. Tuesday, with the warning in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday. Sherman Pass, which sits over 5,500 feet, will likely see the heaviest snowfall. Snow levels will fluctuate between 4,000 and 5,000 feet, impacting areas in Ferry and Okanogan counties.
The storm will create hazardous driving conditions on key routes, especially around Boulder Creek Road, Chesaw Road, and Highway 20 at Wauconda Summit. Authorities advise drivers to prepare for delays and dangerous roads, with slick surfaces and reduced visibility likely. Travelers should check updates on the Washington State Department of Transportation website.
Drivers are urged to slow down, maintain safe distances, and bring emergency supplies. The winter storm could impact travel and road conditions significantly, making caution essential for those navigating the mountain passes this week.
