Pittsburgh, PA – A winter storm warning remains in effect through Friday morning for higher elevations of Westmoreland and Fayette Counties in Pennsylvania and parts of Preston and Tucker Counties in West Virginia. Residents are urged to prepare for dangerous travel conditions and possible power outages.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh, heavy snow is expected to continue with accumulations ranging from 4 to 10 inches by Friday morning. Wind gusts up to 45 mph may cause areas of blowing snow, significantly reducing visibility and increasing the risk of hazardous travel during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

The affected areas include Donegal, Champion, Ohiopyle, and Ligonier in Pennsylvania, as well as Terra Alta and Hazelton in West Virginia. Tree branches may be brought down by the strong winds, potentially leading to power outages.

The NWS encourages residents to report snow or ice accumulations by calling 412-262-1988 or using social media platforms such as Facebook or Twitter with the handle @NWSPittsburgh.

Drivers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, ensure emergency kits are in vehicles, and exercise extreme caution on snow-covered roads.
