Eau Claire, WI – A significant winter storm is expected to impact western Wisconsin starting early Thursday morning, bringing heavy snow and hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, a Winter Storm Warning will be in effect from 3 a.m. Thursday to 3 a.m. Friday for several counties, including Barron, Polk, Rusk, Chippewa, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pepin, Pierce, and St. Croix. Snowfall totals of 5 to 7 inches are expected, with the heaviest accumulation occurring throughout Thursday.
The storm will also bring strong winds, leading to blowing snow and reduced visibility, particularly in open areas. Commuters should prepare for difficult travel conditions during the morning and evening rush hours on Thursday.
