Grand Rapids, MI – A winter storm warning remains in effect for portions of southwest and west-central Michigan, including Muskegon, Ludington, and Grand Haven, until 10 a.m. Thursday. Snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches and wind gusts up to 35 mph are expected to create dangerous conditions.
The National Weather Service reports that visibility may drop below 1/4 mile at times due to heavy snowfall and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are likely, making travel potentially life-threatening, especially during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.
Road conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day and into Thursday morning, with widespread blowing snow significantly reducing visibility on highways and local roads. Commuters should prepare for delays and consider postponing non-essential travel.
Officials urge those who must travel to pack emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water, in case of being stranded. Drivers should also ensure vehicles are winter-ready and reduce speeds to navigate icy surfaces.
For updates on road conditions, closures, and weather alerts, check with the Michigan Department of Transportation or local authorities.
