Eureka, CA – A winter storm warning remains in effect for Northern Trinity, with heavy snowfall expected to create hazardous travel conditions overnight into Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Eureka, the warning is in place from 1 a.m. to 2 p.m. PST Friday, with total accumulations ranging from 4 to 8 inches along Highway 3 between Weaverville and Trinity Center. Scott Mountain Pass could see over a foot of snow, while Buckhorn Summit and Oregon Mountain may receive between 2 and 5 inches early Friday morning.

Motorists should prepare for slick and hazardous roads, particularly on bridges and overpasses. The NWS advises against unnecessary travel but urges drivers to carry emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water.

Conditions may worsen suddenly, with reduced visibility and icy roads making travel dangerous. If driving is unavoidable, travelers should allow extra time, avoid sudden braking, and ensure their vehicles are winter-ready.
