Northern Indiana – Bitter cold and wintry weather will impact the region starting tonight, with temperatures dropping into the single digits. Wind chills may fall below zero.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Northern Indiana, fresh snow and clearing skies will lead to dangerously low temperatures overnight. The cold will set the stage for a weekend storm bringing snow, freezing rain, and ice.
Snow will develop Friday night and could change to freezing rain south of U.S. 24 by Saturday morning. Areas north of U.S. 30 will see the highest snow accumulation. Another round of snow is expected Sunday.
Travel may become hazardous, especially with icy conditions possible. Officials urge residents to monitor forecasts and adjust travel plans.
