Winter Storm to Bring Flooding & Snow to Western Pennsylvania – Arctic Blast Follows Next Week

Western Pennsylvania – A powerful storm system is set to impact western Pennsylvania this weekend, bringing heavy rain, possible flooding, and gusty winds before transitioning to snow.

Flood Watch is in effect through Sunday evening, with 1-2 inches of rain expected. Rain will be heaviest Saturday night into early Sunday, creating flooding risks for rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas. As cold air moves in Sunday afternoon, rain will transition to snow showers, with wind gusts up to 38 mph making travel hazardous.

Washington’s Birthday on Monday will be chilly and breezy, with a high near 27°F. Winds will remain strong, making it feel even colder. Tuesday brings partly sunny skies but frigid temperatures, with highs struggling to reach the mid-20s.

By Wednesday, another system moves in, bringing a chance of snow and highs near 28°FWednesday night could see additional snow accumulation, followed by lingering flurries Thursday.

The region should prepare for a bitter Arctic blast later in the week, with wind chills dropping well below zeroDrivers should remain cautious on slick roads, and residents should prepare for dangerously cold temperatures.
