Grand Forks, ND – A significant winter storm is set to impact portions of Minnesota and North Dakota from Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon, bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds. Residents in the affected areas should prepare for hazardous travel conditions and potential disruptions.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch, forecasting snow accumulations of 2 to 7 inches for parts of northwest and west-central Minnesota and up to 8 inches in central North Dakota. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph, leading to widespread blowing snow that may reduce visibility below 1/4 mile at times.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm will intensify Wednesday evening, with conditions worsening overnight. Areas such as Fargo, Grand Forks, and Devils Lake are likely to experience challenging commutes Thursday morning and evening.
Central North Dakota, including Minot and Rugby, is expected to see the heaviest snowfall, with accumulations possibly exceeding 8 inches. Travelers are advised to exercise caution and monitor local forecasts for updates.
Authorities recommend carrying emergency supplies in vehicles, avoiding unnecessary travel, and heeding all weather alerts as conditions develop.
