Dodge City, KS – A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of southwest and south-central Kansas, bringing a mix of snow and ice that could create hazardous travel conditions through Wednesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, the advisory will remain in effect from noon Tuesday to 6 p.m. CST Wednesday. Snow accumulations between 1 and 4 inches are expected across the region, with ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch.

Cities affected include Dodge City, Garden City, Liberal, Ulysses, Pratt, and surrounding areas. Forecasters warn that roads, especially bridges and overpasses, could become slick, impacting both Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

Travelers are advised to slow down and exercise caution on the roads. The Kansas Department of Transportation recommends checking road conditions by calling 511 before heading out.

This system follows a series of winter storms that have hit the region this season, adding to concerns about road safety. Residents should prepare for rapidly changing conditions and allow extra time for travel through Wednesday evening.
