Great Falls, MT – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the East Glacier Park region and Southern Rocky Mountain Front from 6 p.m. Saturday through noon Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Great Falls.

Forecasters expect heavy, wet snow across the Continental Divide, with 7 to 16 inches of accumulation above 6,000 feet and 3 to 8 inches below. Winds may gust up to 45 mph, creating blowing snow and hazardous travel conditions.

According to the NWS, the storm will make travel “difficult to impossible” in parts of Glacier National Park, especially along Going-to-the-Sun Road and Logan Pass. Roads across higher elevations in Teton and Lewis and Clark counties may also become icy or snow-covered as temperatures fall overnight.

Officials warn that cold, wet, and windy conditions could lead to hypothermia or frostbite for those unprepared. Heavy snow may also weigh down trees and power lines, increasing the potential for power outages.

Residents and travelers are advised to check the Montana Department of Transportation’s 511 service or MDT Road Report website for updated road conditions.
