Baltimore, MD – A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for central Maryland starting Sunday evening, with significant snowfall expected through late Monday night. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions, with accumulations of up to 10 inches of snow possible in some areas, along with gusty winds and freezing rain.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm will begin Sunday night with snow showers intensifying into Monday morning. Gusts may reach 35 mph, causing reduced visibility and potential power outages. Total snowfall is forecasted to range between 5 and 10 inches, with localized bands of heavier snow. Travel during the Monday morning and evening commutes could be dangerous, particularly along I-70, I-95, and major roads in Baltimore County.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and limit travel during the storm. If driving is necessary, carry an emergency kit, including flashlights, blankets, and water. Power outages are possible, so ensure electronic devices are charged and emergency plans are in place.

By Tuesday, conditions are expected to improve, with partly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the low 30s. However, black ice may persist on untreated roads.

Stay updated through the National Weather Service and Maryland Department of Transportation for road conditions. Residents should take all necessary precautions to remain safe during this first significant winter storm of 2025.
