Bismarck, ND – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. CST (5 p.m. MST) Thursday for much of western and central North Dakota, as a mix of freezing rain and snow continues to make travel hazardous across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Bismarck, areas including Williston, Dickinson, Bismarck, Bowman, Beulah, Mandan, and Watford City will see 1 to 2 inches of snow and up to two-tenths of an inch of ice accumulation before precipitation gradually tapers this evening.

Forecasters warn that the wintry mix will lead to slick and icy roads, especially on bridges and overpasses, with both the Thursday morning and evening commutes likely impacted.

Residents are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check 511 for real-time road updates before driving. Power lines and tree limbs may also collect ice in localized areas, leading to isolated outages.

The storm system is expected to move east by tonight, with temperatures remaining below freezing into Friday morning.
