Winnipeg, MB – A 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries in a stabbing Thursday afternoon on Wellington Avenue, prompting a swift police response.
According to Winnipeg Police, officers arrived at the 600 block of Wellington Avenue around 3:06 p.m. and located the injured victim. The man had sustained upper body stab wounds and was treated with emergency care before being transported to the hospital in unstable condition. His condition has since been upgraded to stable.
Police investigations revealed the victim visited the suspect’s home on Toronto Street but was repeatedly asked to leave due to disruptive behavior. After returning, the suspect allegedly armed himself with a large-edged weapon, chased the victim from the property, and stabbed him.
The victim fled to a nearby business where police were called. Tactical Support Team members located the suspect at a residence on Toronto Street and arrested him without incident.
Charlie Daniel Woo Dixon, 19, faces charges of Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon. Police confirmed the suspect and victim were previously known to each other.
