Winnipeg, MB – A man was stabbed inside an apartment on Roblin Boulevard in Winnipeg on Wednesday evening. The victim, a 53-year-old man, sustained serious upper-body injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he received medical attention and was stabilized.
According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers arrived at the scene around 5:24 p.m. but found that the suspect had fled on foot. Officers tracked down the suspect, a 27-year-old male, on Vialoux Drive and arrested him without incident. Police recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack from the suspect’s possession.
Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit learned that the suspect and the victim, who did not know each other, had engaged in a verbal altercation in a common area of the building. The suspect allegedly escalated the argument by producing a knife and repeatedly stabbing the victim, causing serious injuries.
The suspect is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and failure to comply with probation and release orders. He remains in custody.
