Winnipeg, MB – Two men were arrested Monday in Winnipeg’s Wolseley neighborhood after police allegedly found weapons, drugs, cash, and stolen property during a vehicle stop.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers were first called to a residence in the 1–99 block of Dalhousie Drive around 11:30 a.m. on an unrelated matter involving a 24-year-old man. Police say the suspect left before officers arrived, but investigators learned he had made concerning comments about his own safety and the safety of others and was believed to be armed.

At approximately 3:05 p.m., officers located the suspect inside a vehicle in the 1–99 block of Arlington Street, with a 21-year-old man as a passenger. Both were detained without incident.

Police allege a search of the 24-year-old suspect revealed a makeshift hammer, a box cutter, two loaded air-pistol magazines, and drug paraphernalia. Officers say he was also in breach of multiple conditions of an existing release order.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a loaded air pistol, a knife, 146 unknown pills or tablets, 27.7 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $2,216, $385 in Canadian currency, stolen identification, three cell phones, and drug packaging materials, scales, and paraphernalia.

Christian Daniel Carter, 24, is facing charges including possession of a weapon, possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, and four counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was detained in custody.

The 21-year-old man is facing charges of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000. He was released on an undertaking.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
