Winnipeg, MB – Two Winnipeg police officers were injured Wednesday evening after responding to a domestic-related call in the 1–99 block of Bonaventure Drive, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.

According to police, officers with the East District General Patrol arrived shortly after 5 p.m. on November 12, 2025, to check on reports of a man acting erratically inside a short-term rental. Responding officers first located a woman outside and confirmed she was safe before entering the residence.

Police say the man involved—identified as 30-year-old Rueben Taylor Winter—was found hiding in the basement. As officers attempted to speak with him, Winter allegedly pulled out a folding knife and lunged at them. Officers immediately moved to restrain him as he allegedly attempted to stab them.

Authorities said control was gained only after officers deployed a conductive energy weapon, prompting Winter to drop the knife. He was taken into custody and later medically cleared by paramedics for minor injuries.

Both officers were transported to the hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police say they have since been medically cleared and are expected to make full recoveries.

Winter is charged with two counts of Assault on a Peace Officer with a Weapon. He remains in custody.
