Winnipeg, Manitoba – A 24-year-old man was arrested after allegedly sexually exploiting a teenager he met through social media.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the Counter Exploitation Unit launched an investigation after receiving information that a teen had been sexually assaulted following contact online.

Police said that in October 2025, the suspect, using the username “MANITOBAVAN,” allegedly contacted the teen through social media. Investigators allege the online communication progressed to several in-person meetings, during which the teen was sexually assaulted.

The Counter Exploitation Unit identified a suspect following its investigation. On February 1, 2026, officers arrested Christ Ismael Andijide, 24, in the 100 block of Saddler Avenue.

Andijide has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, two counts of obtaining sexual services from a person under 18 years of age, and one count of luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication. The charges have not been proven in court.

Police said Andijide was detained in custody.

According to Winnipeg Police, the investigation remains active. Authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact investigators.

The case underscores ongoing concerns about online safety, particularly for teens and young social media users who frequently connect with new contacts digitally.

Winnipeg Police stated they remain committed to supporting survivors of sexual assault. Resources include WPS Victim Services at 204-986-6350 and the Klinic Sexual Assault Crisis Line at 204-786-8631.
