Winnipeg, MB – A 47-year-old man is recovering after police say he was stabbed during an online cell phone sale Wednesday evening in Winnipeg’s North End. The incident happened just before 7 p.m., when the reported buyer allegedly turned on the seller after the transaction was completed.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers responded to the area of McGregor Street and Carruthers Avenue around 7 p.m. on November 19, 2025. Police said a youth buyer attended the meeting with an adult, completed the purchase as planned, then allegedly returned and stabbed the seller before fleeing.

Officers later found the victim in the 700 block of Aberdeen Avenue. Emergency responders provided medical aid, and he was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

With the help of the K9 unit, police located and arrested a 17-year-old female suspect. She has been charged with Assault with a Weapon, two counts of Fail to Comply with Sentence, and multiple outstanding warrants for failing to comply with release conditions, according to police. She was detained in custody.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved due to age protections for youth.

Residents in Winnipeg’s North End have faced several recent incidents involving online marketplace meetups, and police continue urging the public to use designated safe exchange zones when meeting buyers or sellers.
