Winnipeg, MB – A months-long investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service’s Property Crime Unit led to the arrest of a man accused of stealing more than $25,000 in merchandise from numerous stores across the city between March 18 and December 1.

According to police, 40-year-old Ryan Joseph Campbell was allegedly linked to at least 20 thefts involving food, tools, pressure washers, snowblowers, and other retail merchandise from stores located on Osborne Street, Kenaston Boulevard, Empress Street, Leila Avenue, Abinojii Mikanah Boulevard, and Mountain Avenue. Investigators say the incidents ranged from small grocery thefts valued at $100 to high-value tool and equipment thefts exceeding $3,000.

Police reported that the thefts began on March 18 at a grocery store on Osborne Street and continued steadily through the year. A series of larger thefts occurred in the fall, including multiple snowblower thefts at a retail store on Empress Street on November 24 and 25, as well as tool thefts on December 1 valued at approximately $1,600.

Investigators determined the total value of items stolen to be over $25,000, with roughly $5,355 recovered.

Property Crime Unit officers identified Campbell as the suspect and linked him to each of the reported incidents. On December 1, West District General Patrol officers located and arrested Campbell in the 300 block of Pacific Avenue.

Police say Campbell was charged with four counts of Theft Under and taken into custody on five outstanding arrest warrants. He remains detained.
