Winnipeg, Manitoba – A 41-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting two teenagers following weeks of online communication.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the Counter Exploitation Unit began investigating in early January 2026 after receiving reports of inappropriate online contact between two teens and a man using the username “Moon Beam.”

Police allege that on Sept. 8, 2025, after several weeks of communication through a social media platform, the teens attended the suspect’s residence. Investigators allege the man provided drugs and alcohol before sexually assaulting them.

On Sept. 25, 2025, one of the survivors allegedly received sexually explicit images and video from the suspect through social media, prompting further investigation.

The Counter Exploitation Unit later identified a suspect. On Jan. 30, 2026, officers located and arrested Daniel David MAIN, 41, on the 100 block of Paramount Road in Winnipeg.

MAIN, of St. François Xavier, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, making, printing, publishing or possessing child pornography, and transmitting or making available sexually explicit material to a person under 16 years of age.

Police say MAIN was detained in custody.

The Winnipeg Police Service stated it remains committed to supporting survivors of sexual assault. Support resources include WPS Victim Services at 204-986-6350 and the Klinic Sexual Assault Crisis Line at 204-786-8631.

The case may concern students and young social media users.

The investigation remains ongoing.
