Winnipeg, Manitoba – Police have made a third arrest in a March 3 homicide, concluding the investigation into a fatal Selkirk Avenue shooting.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, 25-year-old Sebastian Atkinson was arrested March 17 and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 40-year-old Kingsley Murray Bruce. He remains in custody.

Investigators previously arrested two other suspects: 25-year-old Emmanuel Max Spence on March 9 and 39-year-old Thomas Jeremy Spence on March 11. Both were charged with manslaughter and remain detained. Police allege all three accused were known to the victim at the time of the shooting.

Officers responded just after 3 p.m. on March 3 to reports of a gun call at an apartment block in the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue. Tactical Support Team members and drone operators assisted in locating an injured man at the scene. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

The victim was identified as Kingsley Murray Bruce, a member of Poplar River First Nation who had been living in Winnipeg.

Police say the Homicide Unit led the investigation and have now taken all three suspects into custody. The case remains before the courts.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.

The case may be of particular relevance to young residents and commuters in the Selkirk Avenue area due to its daytime timing and location.
