Winnipeg, MB – Two men have been arrested in connection with a stabbing outside a St. Vital costume social, with additional firearms-related charges laid after a police search linked to the investigation.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the incident began during a social event in October when several men became involved in an altercation after one group was asked to leave. A fight spilled into the parking lot, where a woman in her 40s attempting to intervene was punched and knocked unconscious. As the melee escalated, a man in his 30s was allegedly stabbed by two men who were unknown to him.

Investigators with the Major Crimes Unit executed a warrant on November 1, 2025, at a residence in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue. Five people were taken into custody and police seized a loaded sawed-off shotgun. Two men aged 24 and 54, a 20-year-old woman, and a 16-year-old youth are facing firearms-related charges and were released on undertakings.

A 29-year-old man was charged with multiple offences, including possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, assault with a weapon, and assault causing bodily harm. Police say he also allegedly violated five conditions of a release order. He remains in custody.

A second suspect, a 28-year-old man, was arrested on November 29 and is facing two assault-related charges tied to the original social event. He was released on an undertaking.

Police originally responded to the St. Vital community centre around 1:00 a.m. on October 11, 2025. The stabbing victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition but was later upgraded to stable. The Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate.
