Winnipeg, MB – A high-speed police pursuit in Winnipeg’s North Saint Boniface area ended early Tuesday morning when a fleeing vehicle slammed into the side of a residential home, prompting an arrest and a list of serious criminal charges.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the incident unfolded just before 2:00 a.m. Tuesday when East District General Patrol officers spotted a white Honda Pilot missing its front licence plate near the 300 block of Provencher Boulevard. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver allegedly accelerated aggressively, nearly striking two officers.

Police say the vehicle continued westbound on Provencher Boulevard at a high rate of speed in an effort to evade officers. A short time later, residents in the 200 block of Dollard Boulevard contacted police to report a vehicle had crashed into the side of a house, causing significant damage.

Authorities confirmed the home was occupied at the time of the crash, but residents were not injured. The female passenger who exited the vehicle earlier was not reported injured at the scene.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., officers located the suspect at a hospital in the 400 block of Tache Avenue, where he was being treated for injuries consistent with a motor vehicle collision. Police say he was arrested without incident.

A 41-year-old man is now facing multiple charges, including two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, dangerous operation of a conveyance, mischief over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.

The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.
