According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the incidents occurred between approximately 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on January 8, 2026, during peak morning foot traffic in the skywalk network.
Police say the first assault happened around 6:30 a.m. near the Millennium Library Skywalk, where a woman was allegedly grabbed by a man who attempted to remove her backpack. The woman yelled for help and fled the area. She suffered a minor injury but did not require medical treatment.
Between 6:30 a.m. and 6:45 a.m., a second woman was allegedly confronted along the Graham Avenue Skywalk. Police say the suspect yelled obscenities and pushed her against a railing before fleeing the scene.
Shortly afterward, a third woman walking along the Graham Avenue Skywalk was allegedly threatened, slapped, and had a cup of coffee knocked from her hand. Police say the suspect threw the cup and pushed her before she defended herself and escaped.
Officers were notified and quickly identified and located the suspect around 7:30 a.m. near the Skywalk close to St. Mary Avenue, police said.
Randy Herman, 40, has been charged with robbery, two counts of assault, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He remains in custody.
