According to the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS), investigators with the Homicide Unit continued working the case involving the death of 56-year-old Christopher Sean Brown, who was found deceased in an apartment complex in the 300 block of Blake Street. As a result of the investigation, a suspect was identified and taken into custody.

Police say the homicide occurred on December 20, 2025. Just before 2 p.m. that day, officers responded to a report of a homicide at an apartment complex on Blake Street. Central District General Patrol officers arrived and located a male victim who had succumbed to his injuries. The Homicide Unit later assumed control of the investigation and identified the victim as Brown.

On December 25, 2025, members of the Manitoba First Nations Police arrested 27-year-old Christian Meeches in Long Plains First Nation, Manitoba. Authorities say Meeches was transported to Winnipeg and turned over to the WPS Homicide Unit.

According to police, Meeches has been charged with Second Degree Murder in connection with Brown’s death and remains in custody. The charge has not been tested in court.
