Winnipeg, Manitoba – Four people were arrested after search warrants tied to a Guns and Gangs investigation led to major drug and firearm seizures across the city.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the Guns and Gangs Unit began investigating alleged drug activity in January. As a result of the investigation, officers executed search warrants at an office building in the 300 block of Nassau Street North and a residence in the 100 block of William Tweed Terrace.

Police said the initial enforcement action occurred Jan. 28, shortly after 12:30 p.m., when a 38-year-old man was seen leaving the Nassau Street North office building and driving away in a 2023 Ford F-150 Lariat. Officers conducted a traffic stop and allegedly seized 30 grams of cocaine, more than 2,100 grams of marijuana, 20,000 contraband cigarettes, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $320 in Canadian currency.

A subsequent search of the Nassau Street North office building, with assistance from the Tactical Support Team, allegedly resulted in the seizure of more than 1.6 kilograms of cocaine, fentanyl, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana products, THC, loaded firearms, more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition, luxury watches, and drug packaging materials.

Police later executed a warrant at a William Tweed Terrace residence, where officers allegedly seized more than five kilograms of marijuana, thousands of contraband cigarettes, approximately $8,000 in cash, and additional drug packaging materials. A 23-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested after being seen leaving the residence prior to the warrant execution.

In total, three men and one woman were arrested. Charges include multiple counts of possession of scheduled substances for the purpose of trafficking, firearms offences, trafficking in contraband tobacco, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

All four suspects were released on undertakings. The investigation remains ongoing.

This case may be of interest to students and young workers, as contraband tobacco and drug trafficking investigations often focus on distribution networks operating near commercial and residential areas.
