Winnipeg, Manitoba – Winnipeg police seized fentanyl, cocaine and cash during search warrants that led to drug trafficking charges against a city man.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, members of the Guns and Gangs Unit began investigating suspected drug trafficking activity in September 2025. The investigation focused on alleged trafficking and drug production connected to a 31-year-old man.

On Friday, Feb. 7, investigators, with support from the Tactical Support Team, executed two search warrants — one at a business in the 3000 block of Ness Avenue and another at a residence in the 200 block of Elmhurst Road. One suspect was taken into custody during the searches.

Police say the searches resulted in the seizure of approximately 827 grams of fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $44,000, and 7.2 grams of cocaine valued at about $700. Officers also seized roughly $15,000 in Canadian currency.

Additional items recovered allegedly included drug packaging materials, cutting agents and equipment commonly used in illicit drug production and distribution. Electronic devices and surveillance equipment were also seized, police said.

Gurvinder Singh DEO, 31, has been charged with Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine and Fentanyl) and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. The charges have not been proven in court.

Police said DEO was detained in custody following the arrest.

Investigators noted that fentanyl continues to be a major contributor to overdose deaths across Winnipeg, with seizures aimed at disrupting local supply chains. The investigation remains ongoing.

For commuters and workers in the west Winnipeg area, police activity was concentrated near Ness Avenue during the warrant execution, though no injuries were reported.
