Southeast Michigan — Widespread snow tapered off this morning, but the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac reports that gusty winds of 25 to 35 mph will persist throughout the day, creating occasional blowing snow and making for a colder feel. Additional light snow showers remain possible this afternoon.

Cold weather grips the region through midweek, with highs only in the mid-30s today, falling into the lower 30s Monday through Wednesday. Wind chills will drop into the teens and 20s.

The next round of light accumulating snow is expected Monday night, with totals ranging from 0.5 to 2 inches. The highest amounts are most likely south of the I-94 corridor, according to early probabilistic guidance.

The snow is expected to begin Monday evening, peak late Monday night, and taper off by early Tuesday morning, potentially affecting the Tuesday morning commute.

Residents should use caution during periods of reduced visibility today and monitor updates on the developing Monday night system.
