Weathersfield, VT – A deadly two-vehicle crash along Route 106 in Weathersfield late Thursday has prompted an ongoing investigation and temporary travel disruptions in the area. The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department says the collision happened at approximately 5:08 p.m. near Stoughton Pond Road, leaving one driver dead at the scene.

According to the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, deputies arrived to find two heavily damaged vehicles and called for additional support due to the severity of the crash. Officials said one operator succumbed to their injuries despite emergency efforts. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The incident remains under active investigation, and the Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting deputies in determining the cause. Authorities did not say how long the area would remain impacted, but drivers along Route 106 experienced delays as crews worked through the evening.

According to responding agencies, multiple units assisted at the scene, including Weathersfield Fire, Springfield Fire & Police, Proctorsville Fire, Vermont State Police, Golden Cross Ambulance, and the Springfield Hospital Emergency Department. Officials also acknowledged several good Samaritans who provided help before first responders arrived.
