According to the sheriff’s office, a 2016 Audi Q3 driven by 21-year-old Brandon Rodriguez of Wethersfield, Connecticut, collided head-on with a 2014 Hyundai Sonata driven by 47-year-old Vicky Butterfield of Springfield, Vermont. Rodriguez and two passengers were taken to Mt. Ascutney Hospital with minor injuries. Butterfield was transported to Springfield Hospital, where she was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts.
Authorities said road and weather conditions were clear at the time of the crash. The Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction and Drone teams assisted at the scene, along with Springfield Police, multiple fire departments, and EMS crews.
